Every November, the world unites to raise awareness about the growing challenge of diabetes. This year, Arunodaya Deseret Eye Hospital (ADEH) - a world-class tertiary eye institute in Sector 55, Gurugram, Haryana - is taking the lead with a comprehensive campaign focused on “Diabetes and the Eyes.”
Under the guidance of Dr. Vaibhav Sethi, Vitreo Retina Consultant at ADEH, this initiative aligns with World Diabetes Day 2025 and emphasizes one critical truth:
“Diabetes doesn’t just affect your blood sugar - it can silently damage your eyes.”
Why This Matters
According to global estimates, more than one in three people living with diabetes develop diabetic retinopathy, a serious eye condition that can lead to vision loss if untreated. Unfortunately, most patients only discover it once the damage is already done.
With India home to one of the largest diabetic populations in the world, awareness and timely eye screening have never been more essential. Recognizing this urgent need, Arunodaya Deseret Eye Hospital is dedicating the month of November to eye-care awareness and early detection.
ADEH’s November Initiatives: Diabetes & The Eyes

The “Diabetes & The Eyes” awareness campaign is designed to inform, screen, and support diabetic individuals through multiple outreach programs.
Here’s what ADEH has planned:
Awareness Creation: Spreading knowledge about how diabetes affects eye health through educational materials, patient interactions, and community discussions.
Fundus Examination Drives: Conducting mass screenings in rural eye clinics and camps to detect early signs of diabetic retinopathy.
Fundus Photography – OPTOS Approach: Using state-of-the-art OPTOS wide-field imaging for a detailed, non-invasive view of the retina - enabling accurate diagnosis.
Special Evaluation Packages: Offering affordable packages for diagnosis, evaluation, and management of diabetic eye conditions, ensuring accessible care for all.
World Diabetes Day 2025 Event – Public Lecture: “Save Sight!”
As the highlight of the campaign, ADEH will host a special public lecture titled “Diabetes: Save Sight!” - an open invitation for diabetic patients, caregivers, and the general public to learn about safeguarding vision.
Date: Friday, November 14, 2025 Venue: Arunodaya Deseret Eye Hospital (ADEH), Sector 55, Plot NH-4, Gurugram 122011, Haryana Time: 3 PM – 4 PM (Lecture) Refreshments & Fellowship: 4 PM onwards
Speaker: Dr. Vaibhav Sethi, Vitreo Retina Consultant, ADEH
This session will focus on:
How diabetes affects your vision
Early signs of diabetic retinopathy

Lifestyle changes that protect your eyes
Participants will also have the opportunity to interact directly with ADEH’s specialists and receive expert advice tailored to their condition.
Expanding Horizons: Research & Collaboration
Beyond awareness, ADEH is also collaborating with diabetes-centric institutes, endocrinologists, and public health advocacy platforms to advance clinical research in Diabetes & the Eyes.
