General Ophthalmology

Regular eye assessments are a precious tool in keeping your eyes’ condition by identifying and preventing ailment. Various diseases progress slowly without causing discomfort or vision loss. Early detection of any glitches can reduce the risk of more harm and permit for a choice of treatment possibilities.

Patients should have a complete eye assessment every one to three years, depending on their age, risk of ailment and overall physical ailment. Children should have regular assessments to ensure the appropriate development of their vision & prevent any interference with their academic successes. Older adults are frequently at a higher risk for eye disorders such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataracts. Even if your eyes are well, you should still have a regular eye assessment to detect any complications as soon as possible and begin required treatment.

WHAT WE DO?
The General & Comprehensive Ophthalmology Department is led by Dr Arun Sethi (Director and Senior Consultant) who is supported by 7 more consultant surgeons trained in the management of general eye diseases. General eye care services include evaluation and treatment for refractive errors, eye lid disease, infectious disease, provision of eye evaluation and management for important sight-threatening eye diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. Many other diseases are screened and managed these include floaters, flashes and other retinal conditions, corneal, dry eyes and ocular surface disorders, eyelid disorders such as ptosis and injuries to the eyes.

REFRACTION
 
Refraction test is an eye examination that measures a person prescription for eye glasses and contact lenses. When a person complains of blurred vision this test helps to determine the extent of poor vision. It can also be done in monitoring a person who is being treated for a particular eye disease. It is used to measure the degree of hypermetropia, myopia and astigmatism.
CATARACT ASSESSMENTS
Cataract is the most widely known eye disease in which the natural crystalline lens inside the eye gets cloudy. This blocks the visual pathway that makes you lose your vision. At the right stage your eye doctor will advise and perform Cataract surgery. The entire process and the cataract surgery take less than 20-30 minutes.
